Customer Location and Address

Location conditions are how you build regional pricing — remote-area surcharges, island rates, metro vs. rural, or restricting a rate to certain countries.

Postcode matching

The postcode fields accept three syntaxes, and you can mix them in one condition.

Syntax	Example	Matches
Exact	`90210`	That postcode only
Wildcard	`AB14*`	Anything starting `AB14`
Range	`90209-90231`	Every postcode numerically within the range
Multiple	`AB14*,90210,3000-3999`	Any of the above, separated by commas

Wildcards are the practical choice for UK, Canadian, and Dutch postcodes, where the first characters identify the area. Ranges suit numeric systems like US ZIP and Australian postcodes.

Ranges compare numerically. A range like AB1-AB9 will not behave as you expect on alphanumeric postcodes — use wildcards there instead.

Country and province codes

Both take the two-letter codes Shopify uses, not full names.

Country Code — ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 (US, GB, AU, IN). Separate multiple with semicolons. Full list.
Province / State Code — two-letter province codes (CA, NY, VIC, MH). Separate multiple with commas. Full list.

Warehouse Zipcode

Matches the origin rather than the destination — the location the order would ship from. Use it when you have several warehouses and want rates to differ depending on which one fulfils the order.

Time and day

Time of the Day and Day of the Week are evaluated in your store’s timezone, not the customer’s. Day names are entered in full and separated by commas:

Condition 1: Day of the Week <> Equals <> Saturday,Sunday

Use these for cut-off logic — for example, hiding an express option after 2pm, or over the weekend when your warehouse is closed.

Restrict a rate to mainland UK by excluding island postcodes

Rule must match: All conditions
Condition 1: Country Code <> Equals <> GB
Condition 2: Zipcode / Postcode <> Does Not Equal <> BT*,IM*,JE*,GY*,HS*,ZE*

No weekend express delivery

Rule must match: All conditions
Condition 1: Day of the Week <> Does Not Equal <> Saturday,Sunday
