If you run several stores, or you’ve built a configuration on a development store you now want in production, cloning copies the whole setup across in one operation.
Cloning overwrites the destination store’s existing setup, and cannot be undone. Everything in the modules you select is deleted and replaced with the source store’s configuration.

How it works

Cloning is a pull, run from the destination store. You take a secret from the source store, then use it in the destination to fetch and import the configuration. Both stores need ShipMagic installed.

Doing the clone

Get the secret from the source store

In the source store, open Settings → Clone Setup and copy the API secret.

Open Clone Setup in the destination store

In the destination store, go to the Clone Store Setup page.

Paste the secret and validate

Paste it into Source Store Secret and choose Validate & Continue. The app confirms the source store and shows what it contains.

Choose what to import

Tick the modules you want:

Map the zones

The two stores have different shipping zones, so you map each source zone to a destination zone. Any zone you don’t need can be set to Skip (don’t map).

Confirm and run

Read the overwrite warning, then run the import.

Zone mapping matters

Zones are the part that doesn’t transfer automatically — the destination store’s zones have their own identities, and rates have to be attached to the right ones.
Sync the destination store’s shipping zones before cloning. If a zone hasn’t been synced it won’t be offered in the mapping step, and its rates will have nowhere to land.
Anything mapped to Skip is simply not imported.

Imported customizations arrive inactive

Customizations are imported inactive and must be activated manually in the destination store.This is deliberate — activating a customization registers it with Shopify, which has to happen in the destination store’s own context. Until you activate them, they have no effect at checkout.
Go through the customization list after cloning and enable the ones you want live.

What doesn’t come across

Cloning covers rules, customizations, and blending settings. It does not bring:
  • Product data — dimensions and synced product attributes belong to each store’s own catalogue.
  • App mode toggles — the destination store stays in whatever mode it was in, so a cloned setup doesn’t go live unexpectedly.
