Statuses
The status comes from Shopify, so it reflects what’s actually live at checkout. While Shipping Discounts is in test mode, an Active discount only applies to checkouts with
shipmagic as the first name. See Test mode and going live.Editing a discount
Click a discount to open it. You can change everything except the method (automatic or code), which Shopify doesn’t allow. Click Save and the change applies at checkout straight away.Disabling a discount
To pause a discount without losing it, set Status to Disabled and click Save.- The discount stops applying at checkout
- Shopify lists it as Expired on its Discounts page, while ShipMagic shows Disabled
- A discount code keeps its usage history
- Your start and end dates are kept, and come back when you set it to Enabled again
Deleting discounts
Select one or more discounts in the list and click Delete discounts. This deletes them from ShipMagic and from Shopify. Discount codes stop working immediately. In your Shopify admin
ShipMagic discounts appear in Shopify Admin → Discounts alongside your other discounts. Clicking one there opens it in ShipMagic, which is where you edit it. If a ShipMagic discount is deleted from the Shopify Discounts page, or the app is reinstalled, ShipMagic marks it Missing in Shopify. Open it and click Save to create it again, or delete it in ShipMagic.Combining with other discounts
- Only one shipping discount applies per order. If several qualify, Shopify gives the customer the one with the biggest saving. This includes shipping discounts you created in Shopify itself.
- Product and order discounts can apply alongside a shipping discount when the Combinations card allows it. The other discount must also allow combining with shipping discounts.
Working with rates and customizations
Shipping discounts work on any rate at checkout — manual Shopify rates, ShipMagic rates, and live carrier rates. They run after shipping customizations:- A rate hidden by a customization isn’t shown, so it isn’t discounted
- A rate renamed by a customization is matched by its new name in Only rates whose name contains
Permissions
ShipMagic creates shipping discounts as Shopify discounts, so it needs the Manage discounts permission. It asks for it the first time you open Shipping Discounts. If the permission is missing, a banner appears with a Grant access button. You can’t save discounts until it’s granted.Test mode and going live
Shipping discounts have their own toggle in Settings → App Modes, separate from Shipping Rates and Shipping Customizations.
In test mode, real customers checking out see no shipping discount, even if they enter the code.
Live mode needs the Starter plan or above. See Billing and Going Live.
